State Councilor Yang Jing urged the central government and State organs to strengthen petition reform with higher standards and increased responsibility during a national conference on Nov 7, in a bid to better deal with complaints and appeals from the public.
Although petition reform has made some remarkable progress, there are still many problems to be solved, said Yang, adding that national petition work should be based on the rule of law.
Yang called on related departments to speed up the reform by streamlining mechanisms, rolling out measures, standardizing procedures, improving policies, and enhancing responsibility and innovation during the implementation.
