Premier Li Keqiang urged the local government to help move poverty-stricken families out of remote mountainous area when he visited a village in southwest China's Yunnan province on Jan 23.

The villagers live in dark and cold shanties with livestock. Farmlands on the slope are infertile.

"These houses are unliveable," said the Premier.

He asked the officials to ease poverty by relocating poor families.
