Over 2b cubic meters of water diverted to Beijing

Over 2 billion cubic meters of water has been diverted to Beijing through the central route of China’s South-to-North Water Diversion Project by Feb 1, China National Radio reported on Feb 2.
According to the project’s office in Beijing, about 1.369 billion cubic meters of the diverted water has been transported to water supply companies in Beijing, accounting for 68 percent of the total volume. 284 million cubic meters of the water has been transferred to Beijing’s biggest reservoirs, and another 347 million cubic meters has been used to replenish rivers and groundwater.
The average daily inflow to Beijing through the project has reached 1.05 million cubic meters, benefiting more than 11 million people in the city.
