China’s high-end manufacturing is moving forward, with many products and projects having been made since the kickoff of the “Made in China 2025” strategy in 2013.
A recent inspection by the State Council found that progress has been made in several fields, including basic industrial components, basic materials, and smart manufacturing, according to Xinhua News Agency on Feb 6.
For example, high-end aerospace fasteners and advanced bearing fittings have been successfully made by companies in East China’s Zhejiang and Jiangsu province, respectively.
New technologies, such as the internet, are being integrated with manufacturing. Smart industrial products, such as smart home appliances, mobile terminals, intellectual robots and smart autos, are being rapidly developed. According to Xinhua, 38.2 percent of manufacturing equipment has been connected to the internet in industrial companies.
Miao Wei, minister of Industry and Information Technology, said the integration of internet and manufacturing will vastly improve the nation’s comprehensive competitiveness.
The inspection also highlighted the significance of major projects started by the government, as those projects have been aggregating funds and resources efficiently, which help unleash the potential of innovation.
For example, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) launched 109 smart manufacturing pilot projects. And the national battery innovation center, the first national innovation center in the manufacturing sector, was launched in June 2016.
These major projects are breakthroughs in building a manufacturing power, and the MIIT will continue to join efforts with related departments to maintain the upward momentum, said a senior official from the ministry.
