Vice-premier stresses smart manufacturing advances

Vice-Premier Ma Kai has stressed the need to improve China’s manufacturing capabilities by bedding down Made in China 2025 policies and integrating the industry with the internet.

The vice-premier made the remarks during a two-day inspection of manufacturing enterprises and science and technology institutions in Shenyang, Liaoning province, from Feb 23 to 24.

Since China launched the Made in China 2025 initiative, progress has been made in smart manufacturing as innovations keep coming out and new business modes grow rapidly, Ma said.

But gap still remains with international advanced level in terms of manufacturing technology, innovation systems, and industrial ecology, he added.

Ma said that development of smart manufacturing is crucial to promote supply-side structural reform, while local governments and enterprises should work on advancing smart manufacturing.

He also listed other priorities including achieving breakthroughs in key technologies, strengthening construction of the industrial internet and standard system, fostering new industrial modes, cultivating talent in smart manufacturing, and creating a favorable development environment for smart manufacturing.
