Members of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) are arriving in Beijing from around the country to attend the fifth annual plenary meeting, which will start on March 3.

The CPPCC is China’s top political advisory body which consists of figures representative of Chinese society, who advise government, legislative and judicial organs.

Some 2,000 members from 34 sectors are attending this year’s event. They started to register for the meeting on March 1.

Some arriving CPPCC members spoke about the proposals they will take to the annual event.

“In my field research in rural areas, many returned migrant workers and college graduates need preferential policies to support them to start business back home. Introducing such policies will help attract them to go back their hometowns and keep them there,” said Song Fengqiang, a CPPCC member from southwest China’s Guizhou province.

“I suggest the government draw up successful local measures and turn them into national politics,” said Qian Xueming, another CPPCC member from south China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
