China expects improvement of China-ROK ties

BEIJING — China hopes that its relations with the Republic of Korea (ROK) will be improved and developed, State Councilor Yang Jiechi said on May 15 in Beijing.

“China puts emphasis on its ties with the ROK and hopes that the bilateral relations will be improved and developed from a new starting point,” Yang said when meeting with Park Byeong-suk, former deputy speaker of the ROK’s National Assembly.

Park led a ROK delegation to the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held in Beijing on May 14 -15.

China is willing to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with the ROK under the Belt and Road Initiative, Yang said.

Park congratulated China on the success of the forum. He said the new government of the ROK values relations with China, and is willing to strengthen communication and contribute to the improvement and development of bilateral ties.
