Premier Li Keqiang sets off for Germany, Belgium

Invited by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, Premier Li Keqiang left Beijing on May 31 on a special plane for an official visit to Germany and Belgium.

Premier Li is scheduled to attend the annual prime minister meeting with the German chancellor in Berlin. The Premier will also co-chair the 19th China-EU leaders’ meeting in Brussels with European Council President Donald Tusk and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

During his visit, Premier Li, along with leaders from Germany, Belgium, and other European nations, will help send a positive signal in building an open global economy, supporting free trade, and maintaining multilateralism, world peace and stability.

According to the head of Germany Trade &Invest, the frequent meetings between Premier Li and Merkel have helped expand bilateral trade and investment, and Premier Li’s upcoming visit will further strengthen ties between the two nations and increase win-win cooperation.
