Premier Li meets German president in Berlin

Premier Li Keqiang met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on June 1 in Berlin.
The Premier first conveyed President Xi Jinping’s greetings to Steinmeier, saying that close high-level visits between China and Germany have greatly pushed development of bilateral ties between the two nations.
Current international political and economic situations have witnessed increasing instabilities and uncertainties, while peace, development, cooperation and economic globalization are also irresistible, said the Premier.
During his visit to Germany, China and Germany have reached important consensus in such fields as maintaining world peace and multilateralism and supporting trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, said the Premier. It sent a stability signal to the world, he added.
Premier Li reiterated China’s principle and stance in coping with climate change, as well as international and regional hotspot issues, saying that China is willing to work with Germany to face challenges, and jointly promote regional and world peace and prosperity.
He also expressed China’s support for Germany in hosting a successful G20 summit scheduled for Hamburg in July, in an effort to build consensus among all parties, maintain the openness of the world economy and make greater contributions to the improvement of global economic governance.
Steinmeier welcomed and actively praised Premier Li’s visit to Germany, saying that in face of the turbulent background of the international situation, it is of great importance for Germany and China to strengthen high-level exchanges.
The German president said Germany supports an open world trade system, and he also thanked China’s responsible role in fighting climate change.
“Germany is willing to deepen economic, trade and people-to-people exchanges with China, reinforce cooperation in the affairs concerning G20 group and promote further development of Germany-China friendly relationship,” said Steinmeier.
