Premier Li Keqiang emphasized the building of inclusive and mutually-beneficial cooperation platforms for Chinese and European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) during a meeting with Chinese and European entrepreneurs at the Egmont Palace in Brussels on June 2.
Premier Li and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker joined the discussion with Chinese and European SME representatives and asked them questions regarding entrepreneurship and cooperation intention.
The two leaders also had a video interaction with Chinese and EU representatives at other sessions.
Learning that the meeting attracted more than 200 entrepreneurs from China and 20 from European countries, Premier Li said that he and Juncker came to the event to show support for Chinese and European SMEs, especially growing companies noted for their innovation and dedication. He also expressed support for the setup of inclusive cooperation platforms.
SMEs are considered a major source of entrepreneurship, innovation and employment, he said.
Enhanced cooperation among Chinese and European SMEs can boost joint development, promote trade and investment along with healthy and balanced development of economic globalization, said the Premier.
China and the European Union should jointly construct more platforms to promote cooperation among large enterprises and SMEs and create more jobs, he added.
He also urged financial institutions to provide financing support for SMEs and help to create a better future for their innovative development.
