BEIJING — State Councilor Guo Shengkun said on June 24 that the central government will better implement the Product Quality Law to improve the manufacturing sector.
Guo was answering legislators’ questions at a joint inquiry meeting.
The meeting attended by top legislator Zhang Dejiang is part of the ongoing bimonthly session of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee.
Legislators reviewed an inspection report on the enforcement of the Product Quality Law during a panel discussion on June 23.
The report said that a series of problems such as low-quality products and outdated standards remained, especially in rural areas and online purchases.
Guo said authorities would reform the supervision system and make sure that the producers fulfill their responsibility.
Officials from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Public Security, State Administration for Industry and Commerce and the National Development and Reform Commission also answered legislators’ questions during the Q&A-style inquiry.
Zhang Ping, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, urged the administrative authorities to take concrete measures to address existing issues and provide timely feedback to the committee.
