“How many toilets are there? How long does it take to fetch water? Are you using coal or wood to cook?” Premier Li Keqiang inquired about the daily routines of two families in a shantytown in Baoji city, Shaanxi province, on July 11.
Premier Li is on an inspection trip to the shantytown renovation program in Baoji. The shantytown was established in the 1950s and now accommodates 156 households. They will soon move out.
Premier Li asked the local government to go through the project’s profits and payments, and if there is a surplus after completion, he said the money should be invested in any follow-up construction.
