Vice-Premier Wang Yang called for reinforced efforts in the implementation of poverty alleviation work while presiding over a meeting of the State Council Leading Group for Poverty Alleviation and Development.
He emphasized that poverty relief work should mainly focus on extreme poverty-stricken regions with targeted and efficient measures, based on a report by the poverty alleviation group, which carried out inspections in 22 provinces in the central and western regions, to ensure proper implementation of the policies on poverty relief issued by the State Council.
Wang spoke highly of the achievements and progress made by local governments on poverty relief work. He then stressed that related departments and governments should set examples and draw experiences from successful cases based on the inspection results and further provide a support policy system, with the goal of enhancing efforts in the field.
Meanwhile, solutions to issues commonly found during the implementation process should be regarded as key to the breakthroughs in poverty relief work. Each region should have a specific solution to strengthening the poverty alleviation work according to its own strengths and weaknesses.
