GUIYANG — China should stick to a people-centered development concept in improving the rural living environment, Vice-Premier Wang Yang said at a meeting on Sept 15.

The country should stick to a problem-oriented principle and push forward rubbish disposal implementation in rural areas, according to Wang.

More efforts should be made on rural sewage treatment and toilet installation, the vice-premier said.

Local governments should adjust their measures and tasks to local conditions, he said.

Wang praised southwestern Guizhou province for the creative way of coordinating environmental protection, poverty reduction, and development of distinctive industries.

Rural residents shall be the player and beneficiary of environmental protection, Wang said.

During the process, rural culture should be protected and inherited, he said.
