Vice-premier urges prompt legalization of religious affairs

Vice-Premier Liu Yandong on Sept 21 spoke at a teleconference in Beijing about implementing the newly revised regulation on religious affairs, urging the prompt legalization.
“The newly revised regulation is aimed at improving governance on religious affairs, and it’s beneficial to protect legal religion activities and guide religion followers into the great mission of building a well-being society,” according to the vice-premier.
Religions in China should comply with the country’s situation, Liu said. Efforts should be made to safeguard citizens’ freedom of religious belief and regulate religious affairs management in accordance with law.
A more positive and healthy religious relations should be established to maintain harmony among religions and society, she added.
