BEIJING — China has begun its second round of marine inspections to deal with land reclamation problems, the State Oceanic Administration (SOA) announced on Nov 17.

The SOA sent the first of the five inspection teams in this round to Shanghai on Nov 17, while another four will soon start on-site investigations in Tianjin municipality and the provinces of Shandong, Zhejiang and Guangdong.

The inspections, which will last about a month, will target problems in reclamation processes, marine resource exploitation and environmental protection.

The first round of marine inspections was launched in August. The inspections covered six provincial regions including Liaoning, Hainan, Hebei, Jiangsu, Fujian and Guangxi.
