The finishing touches are being added to the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HKZM), a major transport project in South China that is expected to open within a year. The 55-kilometer-long bridge is a joint project of three cities. It consists of several sections including 22.9 kilometers of bridge, 6.7 kilometers of tunnel and two artificial islands as boundary crossing facilities. It will slash travel time between Hong Kong and Zhuhai from three hours to just 30 minutes, further integrating cities in the Pearl River Delta.
