Premier Li Keqiang and his Canadian counterpart, Justin Trudeau, met the press in Beijing on the afternoon of Dec 4, following the second annual dialogue between the Chinese premier and the Canadian prime minister.

Premier Li introduced the achievements of the dialogue. He said both sides agreed to facilitate globalization, safeguard trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, and jointly study the feasibility of a China-Canada free trade agreement with an open and pragmatic attitude.

The two sides also decided to strengthen their cooperation in tourism, aviation and other fields, and increase people-to-people exchanges, the Premier added.

Premier Li noted that the two countries’ cooperation is highly complementary, with huge potential and broad prospects. He hoped both sides will strengthen cooperation, share opportunities, and jointly address challenges to promote bilateral ties to a new high.

Trudeau said Canada is willing to join hands with China to take full advantage of the regular dialogue to continue their study on comprehensive trade cooperation, and pragmatic cooperation in all fields.

He hoped both sides will conduct closer cooperation in addressing global challenges, including climate change, promote cooperation in tourism, education and culture, and expand non-governmental exchanges to promote common development and prosperity, and build a medium-to-long term stable and vigorous relationship.
