Premier Li Keqiang on Feb 13 urged setting up a temporary aid mechanism for needy families to ensure their well-being during the Chinese Lunar New Year.

He made the remarks while visiting a family in a shantytown in Zhenlai county, Northeast China’s Jilin province.

The Premier understood that the four-member family are living on a monthly income of 1,500 yuan ($237), and that they have to store a lot of grain in case of an abrupt rise in prices. They also have financial difficulty in seeing a doctor.

Premier Li asked accompanying government officials to conduct an immediate and complete screening about needy residents. Such efforts should be made not only for this family but for all who have similar difficulties, the Premier stressed.
