Premier Li Keqiang held talks on March 23 with visiting Cameroonian President Paul Biya at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

China and Cameroon boast a long history of friendship, Premier Li said, adding that China is ready to enhance political mutual trust and deepen win-win cooperation with Cameroon, in an effort to further promote bilateral ties.

“As developing countries, China and African countries — including Cameroon — share common interests,” the Premier said, “so China will help Cameroon without any political conditions. We support our enterprises to invest in Cameroon, and innovate cooperative modes in building infrastructure facilities and industrial parks.”

Premier Li also called for more efforts in safeguarding trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, abiding by market rules and business principles, while fighting against protectionism.

Biya said the traditional friendship between Cameroon and China has developed over half a century. The relationship between the two countries has deepened, while exchanges and cooperation in various fields were productive.

Cameroon is grateful for China’s long-term assistance to Cameroon’s economic and social development. Cameroon is committed to enhancing friendly ties and pragmatic cooperation with China and pushing bilateral relations to a higher level, Biya said.
