Premier Li Keqiang said China calls on Chinese and international financial institutions to work together to provide financial support for Central and Eastern European countries (CEEC).

He made the remarks when addressing the opening ceremony of the eighth China-CEEC Economic and Trade Forum on July 7 in Sofia, capital of Bulgaria.

Premier Li said China is the largest developing country, and it remains an arduous task to address the problem of unbalanced and insufficient development. At first, it needs to handle its own affairs well.

China is both a key shareholder of the World Bank and a member of some international financial organizations, such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Since CEE countries have large demands for capital but are relatively short in capital sources, Premier Li called on international financial institutions to carry out cooperation with Chinese ones to provide financial support for major projects in CEE countries.

Such support would result in a reasonable return, the Premier added.

He said China would like to join hands with the above international financial organizations and Western European countries, sharing good experiences in cooperation with CEE countries and promoting inclusive and diverse cooperation and development between China and Europe.
