Leaders of China, EU to meet on cooperation, relations

BEIJING — Premier Li Keqiang will co-chair the 20th China-EU leaders’ meeting with European Council President Donald Tusk and President of European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in Beijing on July 16, a foreign ministry spokesperson said on July 9.

Leaders of both sides will make further guidance and plans for China-Europe relations and will exchange views on issues of common concern and major international agenda, spokesperson Hua Chunying told a daily press briefing in response to a question regarding the meeting’s schedule.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and European Union and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of China-EU leaders’ meeting mechanism.

Both sides hope that this meeting can yield rich results and advance a steady growth in bilateral ties, and to work together to safeguard multilateralism, promote trade and investment facilitation, deal with global challenges and maintain world peace, stability and development, said Hua.
