State Council unveils national science and technology awards

The State Council announced awards to scientists and organizations that have made great contributions to science and technology progress, economic and social development, and national defense modernization.

Academicians Liu Yongtan and Qian Qihu were honored with the State Preeminent Science and Technology Award, the nation’s top science award.

First prize in the State Natural Science Award was given to one experimental discovery on quantum anomalous Hall effect, and the second prize was given to another 37 achievements.

Four scientific accomplishments were awarded first prize in the National Technology Invention Award, 63 accomplishments were awarded the second prize, and two accomplishments were awarded the special prize.

The first prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Award went to 23 scientific achievements and the second prize went to another 148 achievements.

Five foreign experts won the International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Award.

All scientists and technicians are called to learn from academicians Liu and Qian, and other award winners, to overcome core technology difficulties and innovatively solve development problems to make contributions to build China into an innovation-driven country and a technology powerhouse.
