Premier Li Keqiang joined a deliberation with deputies from Northwest China’s Qinghai province at the second session of the 13th National People’s Congress in Beijing, capital of China, on March 7, 2019.
Qinghai province, the Premier said, hailed as “the water tower of China”, harbors the headstreams of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River, and the Lancang River.
Stringent ecological protection work in this region bears substantial significance, in a bid to safeguard the ecological security of the nation as a whole.
Further efforts should be made to boost Qinghai’s economic development as well.
Referring to an entrepreneur deputy’s concern about difficulties faced by local enterprises, the Premier pressed the local government for constant improvements in the business environment as well as infrastructure construction.
Further innovation in administrative systems and mechanisms is in order, the Premier said. And Qinghai should beef up its economy, appealing to more enterprises and talent through multifold approaches, such as market-oriented debt-to-equity swap and diversification in investment.
Qinghai should not only be a national ecological treasure but also pick up momentum in economic development, Premier Li said.
