The Three Gorges reservoir is currently undertaking draw-down of water level, as the Three Gorges Corp is preparing for the upcoming flood season of the Yangtze River. The Three Gorges reservoir’s maximum storage level is 175 meters, and its flood control capacity is 22.15 billion cubic meters. Every year the reservoir stores water at the end of the flood season, and gradually draws off the water from the dry season to the next flood season. Thus it maximizes its utility in flood prevention, electricity generation, water complementary supply and shipping. [Photo/Xinhua]
