Facing international competition, Chinese manufacturing has gradually lost its traditional advantage of low costs.
Under such a circumstance, Chinese manufacturing needs to adjust its structure while maintaining steady growth.
Therefore, this year’s government work report put more emphasis on implementation of the “Made in China 2025” plan, promoting products in cutting-edge technology through the application of big data, cloud computing and internet of things in traditional industries, and smart manufacturing in particular.
The plan also listed several other tasks for manufacturing industries, including measures to build national demonstration zones for smart manufacturing, innovative manufacturing centers, and key project to enhance equipment production and national strength, with an effort to move up Chinese industries in the global chain with leading manufacturing.
As the engine for the manufacturing industry, innovation not only holds the key to efficiency and product quality of traditional manufacturing sectors, but also brings about new materials and products in emerging industries.
To continue the implementation of “Made in China 2025”, traditional industries have to step up their transformation and improve the added value of their products with key technology and innovation.
As both a manufacturing and network power, China will push forward integration of the internet and manufacturing as the priority of “Made in China 2025”, an effort to improve competitiveness in traditional manufacturing.
The plan also urged efforts to build a standardized smart manufacturing system, accelerate the R&D of smart equipment, and upgrade the overall intelligent level of production, R&D, management and service of enterprises.
